Mind & Body
A growing body of evidence indicates the more we can encourage different modes of communicating between the mind, the brain and the body, the easier it is to form healthier pathways for thought, behavior and overall wellness.
Through mind and body therapies, NEXUS Wellness Collective at Albany assists clients in shedding stress, living in the moment and connecting with their innate gifts, which moves them toward a greater state of wellbeing.
THERAPIES & BODYWORK
Polarity therapy is based on energetic principles using touch, reflex, acupressure points and Reiki to balance energy flow in the body. When energy is unbalanced, blocked or fixed due to stress or other factors, pain and disease arise. Polarity Therapy seeks to find the blockages and release energy to normal flow patterns. This therapy is useful for both prevention of imbalance and for health maintenance. Use this therapy as a energizing or relaxation session anytime you may need re-alignment of your energy.
Sound vibrations help to awaken an energy system in our body that opens our natural energy flow and clears us of blockages. Tuning Fork sessions involve the use of various frequencies that are activated and placed on or above certain points of the physical body. This treatment provides feelings of deep relaxation.

Reiki is a Japanese healing technique used for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by a gentle touch on various parts of the body, which correspond to chakra centers and meridian lines. The body is more likely to experience imbalance, disease and illness if we are missing the direct contact to what is referred to as "life force energy" and when our levels of this energy are high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.

BODY & MIND SERVICES
Chiropractic manipulations and mobilizations are highly specific treatments used to normalize joint mechanics.
Acupuncture is an effective treatment approach to reduce pain and stimulate the body to release powerful pain-relieving chemicals called endorphins. Acupuncture is also used to improve the function of muscles and joints by stimulating the nervous system to increase blood flow to specific areas and through improving joint biomechanics.
Soft Tissue Therapy
This is an umbrella term describing various techniques to address pain and dysfunction in muscles, ligaments, tendons and fascia. Treatments typically use movement to identify and break down scar tissue and adhesions that are the result of direct injury or repetitive movements over a period of time. These hands-on techniques include myofascial release, stretching, trigger point work and much more.
Rehab, Movement & Exercise
Dysfunctional movement can stress our tissues, joints and nervous system to the point of injury and diminished performance. Functional movement and corrective exercise can act as a bridge between rehab and training, as many of the elements prescribed to recover from injury are then used to stay injury-free and even improve performance. Thus, optimizing movement is the cornerstone of many effective treatment and performance plans.
Kinesis taping uses specialized elastic tape to help improve the function of muscles and joints. It is also an effective adjunct treatment to help decrease swelling and bruising.
